About the event

This will be the first guest lecture of not only our lecture series, but of the UCD Cardiovascular Student Association, and will surely be one not to miss!

We will be welcoming the wonderful Dr. Hameed who will be sharing with us, his experience in transitioning from cardiothoracic surgery residency to full time academic and researcher. In addition to this, Dr. Hameed will be discussing his role in developing an innovative mechanical assist device for heart failure.

Dr. Hameed is currently lecturing at RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences, and is the founder and director of Pumpinheart Ltd., which is working towards developing a PReduction device to treat Stage C and D (NYHA classification) HFpEF  ambulatory patients. Dr Hameed is also a principal investigator for both the Tissue Engineering Research Group at RCSI, as well as the Trinity Centre for Bioengineering. 

Dr. Hameed has also published numerous papers, and is currently working on a device based solution for heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF).
